Rotherham Ready
is an Enterprise Education programme which is, “...much
more than merely a business course-it’s about
creating active, purposeful and enterprising young
people.”
Backed by £1.4 million of funding from main sponsors Yorkshire
Forward, Rotherham Ready involves all Rotherham schools and colleges
and, uniquely, aims to engage all young people, aged four to 19,
in developing enterprise skills.
The programme is breaking new ground in business engagement, developing
personal skills such as creativity and risk management and opening
young people’s eyes to the diversity of enterprise.
In the first year of Rotherham Ready 1,844 pupils took part in
education activities and this figure is set to rise.
All secondary schools now have an ‘Enterprise Champion’,
who has undergone training to be able to support pupils in every
aspect of their enterprise education, while six ‘Young Entrepreneurs’ from
Rotherham, who have set up their own successful businesses, have
been drafted in as inspirational figures.
“It’s about giving
young people more opportunities”
“It helps you think about the future and make the right choices in school"
