Youngsters get to grips with finance

This February, pupils from Anston Park Juniors worked with young entrepreneurs to create a financial literacy resource that will help other students understand and benefit from the enterprise activity at their school.

The youngsters worked in groups to produce colourful and creative pages for the resource, which will include instructions on how to use it effectively, a glossary of key enterprise terms, images and inspiring designs.

Katrina-Robinson Brown owns Katrina’s Cards, a hand-made wedding stationery business and was on hand to help the children with designs and business language. She said,

“We are trying to build on and improve their financial literacy, creating one complete and useful resource while also developing the children’s thinking.”

“This activity is allowing the pupils to be creative and they get a real buzz out of knowing that other youngsters will benefit from their hard work.”

Graphic designer, Bob Sanderson will now take the individual pages designed by the children and put them together in a professional document which will go onto the Rotherham Ready website and become available for other schools to download.
