News: Supporting Young Entrepreneurs Across Rotherham

Posted on: September 16th, 2014

There were some excellent examples of Rotherham’s young entrepreneurs supported by Rotherham Youth Enterprise (RYE) at the Rotherham Show this September. Start-up businesses from a range of interests including creative art works, shabby chic furniture, pet accessories, dog walking services and bespoke printing including Koochie Koo custom printing were on show. Not only does this demonstrate the range of start-ups that can gain support from RYE but also show other young people that if they have an idea and an interest in becoming an entrepreneur, they can be supported. Support is available for 18-30 year olds living in the Rotherham area.
The 2012 young entrepreneur of the year, Laura Bulloch of Bitter Sweet Boutique was on hand to take questions from would-be entrepreneurs and had examples of her restored furniture and gifts. The 2013 winner of the most innovative business category, sponsored by AESSEAL, Sam Goddard also shared his story of how he has become a successful businessman at the young age of 22. Sam’s business, Response Vehicle Lighting, started off as a hobby. He loved restoring old response lights such as those on recovery vehicles and realised this could be the making of a business idea. Through support from Rotherham Youth Enterprise, hard work, commitment and determination, he has now secured major contracts to be the choice supplier of response lighting for large organisations nationally and internationally.
Sam is a really inspirational reminder of how passion, focus, entrepreneurial flair and support are needed for success. We are sure he will have even more success stories in the future.
